Campaign success for Florence Way

Florence WayFor over a year Conservative Councillor Stephen Hillier has been lobbying County Council to get Florence Way, Langdon Hills resurfaced.

In a survey in April 2016, Cllr Hillier found 69 repairs to previous defects and a further 40 current defects in Florence Way.

Cllr Hillier lobbied Conservative County Councillor Eddie Johnson, the then Cabinet Member for Highways in Essex, to get a complete resurfacing of Florence Way rather than another bit of patchwork on an already poor surface.

Some repairs were undertaken last year but Cllr Hillier continued to lobby Cllr Johnson for a more comprehensive solution. Cllr Hillier has now been informed that Cllr Johnson authorised a more general repair to the road surface.

Cllr Hillier says “This work shows how much can be achieved when Conservative Borough councillors have direct access to Conservative County councillors. I was not prepared to accept the initial County response and after a number of emails and a direct meeting with Cllr Johnson I have been able to get a positive outcome to this situation. The whole length of Florence Way in not being treated but the worst areas are to be repaired. I am satisfied that my efforts have been rewarded.”
