Visit council's new online Cost of Living hub
Have you visited the new digital hub on the Basildon Council website?
Due to unprecedented global problems, ranging from the Covid pandemic to the ongoing war in Ukraine, the global economy is struggling.
Central Government announced £9 billion to support the most vulnerable households, including pensioners. This was made up of the £650 cost of living payment paid to every household on means-tested benefits (around a third of all UK households), the £300 for every pensioner household in receipt of the Winter Fuel Pavement, the £150 for those in receipt of disability benefits and the £500m the Government put aside to support those hardship cases not covered by the other payments.
While it is impossible for any local council to solve every problem, Basildon Conservatives' priority has been to ensure that we are doing our bit to help all those families across Basildon Borough who are struggling with the cost of living.
Our new digital hub on the Basildon Council website provides resources and tips to help people save money this winter, as well as signposting residents to other services and organisations that are available to offer support.
Services include assistance with food and essentials, wellbeing, work, different ways to go green and save money, in addition to activities and places to go. If you are struggling with money, energy debt or the cost of services, you are not alone. It's important to know that support is available and we are here to help.
