John Baron MP welcomes Government funding for local cultural organisations
MP congratulates Things Made Public CIC and the Towngate Theatre
In July the Government announced an unprecedented £1.57 billion funding package to support the cultural, creative and heritage sectors through the pandemic. This funding has supported at least 75,000 jobs nationwide, with further reach across the supply chain and for freelancers who are benefitting from new work being created. In line with the Government’s levelling up agenda, almost 70% of revenue grants and 87% of capital grants awarded in England are outside London. In Basildon and Billericay, Things Made Public CIC has received £122,900 and the Towngate Theatre has received £279,713.
John said: “The Coronavirus pandemic has hit the arts and cultural sector hard and it is right that the Government has made available this very generous support package. I congratulate the Towngate Theatre and Things Made Public CIC on their awards, and know these funds will be put to good use.”
