Conservatives are putting £150 back in the pockets of families
Extra help with the cost of living will be hitting bank accounts from tomorrow
As announced by the Chancellor of the Exchequer in the recent Budget, to help with the cost of living, the Government are paying £150 to every Council taxpayer in band A to D. Basildon Council have been testing to software to deliver these payments and we are pleased to report that these have concluded successfully, so payments can now start being made from tomorrow.
Those who pay their Council Tax by Direct Debit (a little over half of those who pay Council Tax to Basildon Council) and for whom we already have bank details will be paid in batches from Friday April 29th. Those who do not presently pay by Direct Debit will be able to complete a form on the Council's website.
All those eligible will shortly be receiving a text, email or letter (depending on how you are registered with the Council for communication) to let you know what you need to do.
In total, Basildon Borough is receiving £10.2 million from our Conservative Government to fund this scheme and around 81% of households will be eligible. But, in addition to the announcement made by the Chancellor, we at Basildon Conservatives are pleased to be able confirm that we will be going one step further. Thanks to the successful allocation to Basildon Borough of additional hardship funding, councillors this evening authorised an additional £30 to be paid to those residents who are in band E to H and on the Council Tax Reduction Scheme.
Look out for further announcements from Basildon Conservatives.
