Felmores Estate in Pitsea first area in multi-million-pound investment programme
Events taking place on the estate to find out what improvements residents want to see in their area
Upon taking administration, Basildon Conservatives committed to an ambitious multi-million pound programme of estate renewal. As part of the first phase of that programme, teams from across Basildon Council have descended on the Felmores Estates in Pitsea to engage with residents, with minor housing repairs also taking place on the day.
Works will shortly start to undertake repairs, remove graffiti, maintaining trees and shrubs and so much more.
A number of estate events will also take place during August to hear what improvements local people want to see as part of Safe & Sound. The dates for the next events are:
Wednesday 17 August – 11am to 3pm (green area between Plumley's and Little Searles)
Wednesday 24 August – 11am to 3pm **FUN EVENT** (Parkside - with free face painting, inflatable fun, and more)
Works will start on the estate this coming Monday, where teams like our Pride Teams will be on on the estate in the coming months to make it a better place for residents to live. This is all part of the Conservative promise to transform our estates across the borough. We are also undertaking Waste and Recycling Roadshows, with the next one scheduled for Monday 15 August, 10am-2pm, at Northlands Park. This is to inform residents about our updated food and garden waste collection service, that will start in October and to answer any questions you have about the split food and garden waste collection starting in the autumn.
This updated collection will help us to reduce the amount of food waste going to landfill.

"We've committed to major investment in our estates across the borough to make them places you can be proud to call home." ~ Cllr Andrew Schrader, Cabinet Member for Housing & Estate Renewal
Cllr Andrew Schrader, Cabinet Member for Housing & Estate Renewal, said: "We've committed to major investment in our estates across the borough to make them places you can be proud to call home. Our Safe & Sound programme will support our ambitions to have healthy and active local communities, bringing opportunities for residents to get involved in this multi-million pound investment in the borough's estates."
Safe & Sound will improve our estates through works that will enhance the facilities and green spaces to better meet the needs of the community. The aim is for this long-term programme to bring economic benefits and increased opportunities for local residents. Three estates will be in the first wave of activity: Felmores, Lee Chapel North and Five Links.
