Wickford Conservatives welcome great response to recent car park survey.
The current Basildon Borough Council Administration, which is led by Labour and supported by the Wickford Independents, are proposing to build a 5-storey development over the car park in Wickford Town Centre.
Wickford Conservatives recently distributed a residents' survey, asked the public what they thought should happen.
We have had a great response from residents and appreciate all those who took the time to get in touch and let us know their views. So far, the result has been a resounding 'No' to this idea. Many who replied flatly did not want any change, save for a much-needed refresh of the existing car park.
Cllr Carole Morris (Con, Wickford North), said: "The point of this exercise was to get public opinion, not to assume that we know what people want. We asked, and residents have told us. As a result of this response, we will be fighting against any building on the car park in the future."
