MP thanks Basildon Council staff
The Government has announced an additional £900 million of funding for local authorities. This is the fourth such tranche of additional funding, amounting to £6.4 billion nationwide since April. These funds will be used to help councils cover coronavirus-related costs and ensure they have the required resources to keep providing key services during the pandemic. Basildon will receive £1.08 million, meaning that the total amount of additional support it has received from Government stands at £3.83 million. In addition, the constituency will benefit from a share of a further £100 million established to support council-run leisure centres across the country.
John Baron, MP for Basildon & Billericay, said: “This additional £1.08 million is very welcome, and will help ease financial pressures on Basildon Council as it continues to provide key services during these difficult times and as winter approaches. As ever, I would like to thank the staff of Basildon Council for their work for our community, especially in the present circumstances.”
