Basildon Conservatives welcome £18.8m in additional Police funding
Essex Police welcomes 82 more Officers into their ranks
The Home Secretary, the Rt Hon Priti Patel MP, has announced policing will receive up to £15.8 billion in 2021/2, an increase of £636 million on last year. This includes over £400 million to recruit 20,000 extra Police Officers by 2023, in line with the Conservatives’ election manifesto.

Essex Police is set to receive an additional £18.8 million as part of this settlement and has already benefited from an additional 82 Police Officers. In recognition of the challenges to Police efforts during the pandemic, the Government has provided £30 million to help with coronavirus enforcement and has reimbursed forces for all additional PPE purchased between March and July.
